Hey everybody! I'm really glad you're here.
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Carl Donovan and I'm the editor in chief
(or is it "chief bottle washer"?) here at StopTheRinging.org
That's a picture of me with Lane, my lovely fiancee, who is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
I, on the other hand, am not a therapist. Nor am I a doctor, scholar or researcher of any sort. I'm just an ordinary guy who made some foolish choices in my youth and woke up one day with a ringing in my ears that to this day has never stopped.
I created StopTheRinging.org with the goal of documenting my own personal experiences and research on the topic of tinnitus. I hoped to build a community where fellow sufferers could gather to share their own stories and help one another through the trials and tribulations that we all must endure each and every day.
Our Facebook page has been a decent place for our fans to gather up to this point but lately I'd been feeling that it was lacking in some ways. Although it has been a great place for me to speak my mind and share my experiences, I've worried that it wasn't provided a sufficient voice for the rest of our members.
So I sarted a private Facebook group and, as I'm writing this, we've just passed 300 members and counting.
This group serves a central location for all of our members to ask questions and provide each other with answers and much needed support.
I know the feelings of loneliness and isolation that tinnitus can cause. Sometimes it feels like nobody around you understands what you are going through. I want you to know that you are not alone in your fight against the ringing. I feel your pain and so do MILLIONS of other people out there.
It is my sincere hope that everyone in the world with this terrible condition finds their way to this group and that we can someday build it to be the largest support community on the internet.
Please join us today!
